Responsible Travel

In Uganda, we look at responsible travel and tourism as the best way to reduce the effects of mass tourism on local communities and their cultures plus the environment that surrounds them. The safaris in Uganda are for those who had enough of mass tourism and want to relax, discover and adventure without unfavorably affecting the environment and the local communities. The safaris are designed to get more out of your vacation by bringing you closer to local cultures communities as well environments by connecting local people in tourism. Once the local community comes to know that they will benefit from your visit, then these will give you a warm welcome.

Many of the tours in Uganda are designed for small groups of one to seven people rather than one hundred people and more. By this, your visit will have minimum impacts on the local community and the environment while attractive to your adventure and experience. We make sure that your vacation is truthfully genuine and that you experience that African touch which you paid for. Below is the travel policy which is beneficial before travel, while on the safari and after the safari.

Before your travel; we persuade all the clients to get to know the culture of the people in the destination they are going to visit. Get to always learn a few words from the popular local language like greeting or saying thank you and when you reach, communicate with the locals in their language , by this you will be accepted and thus the best way to travel responsibly.

In case you have got excess package, please do dispose them off before you travel, these might include polythene paper and other plastics. This is because plastics have caused a lot of impacts on the environment most especially soil. We therefore advise you not to pack plastic materials unless otherwise. And in case you do, make sure that it’s disposed off properly.

It’s also good to always ask about some gifts that you bring along with you so that you share them with the local people, schools and children as responsible travel is all about community development and sharing. There are projects where you can do some volunteer work to make your holiday more meaningful. Always contact your tour operator who will advise you an availability of volunteer placements depending on your skills, interest and time.

While on the safari; the clients are encouraged to buy local products to support the local industry as much as possible than buying the imported products. This is because you are here to experience what this destination has got to offer. By this the parents can send their children to school, they can buy medicine and above all invest in projects that develop the community and conserve the environment.

In Uganda, we employ local people as driver guides, safari consultants and porters. And by doing this, we provide them with income to develop themselves. So by booking with a tour operator in Uganda, you are supporting a local and indigenous company that in turn employs fellow local people. In Uganda, we encourage you to respect the local people’s culture, religion as that you don’t cause cultural shock in the destination that you visit.

Always participate in activities that are designed to promote community development and environmental conservation. These could be village walks, cultural performances, buying of crafts and following the principles of eco tourism while on vacation.

When you go back home; always send feedback on how the safari you booked with us was actually responsible, inform us about the hotels, give the best way to reduce any impacts on the environment and how the community can benefit more from our safaris. We believe that your safari un covered you to our environment and local communities, schools, orphanages, the women groups, so donating to such groups which are vulnerable.
